January was a busy, but fantastic month. My book was released right after my birthday (a month sooner than I expected), then I was featured in the January edition of the Las Vegas Entrepreneur’s magazine as one of twenty-five Las Vegas authors to watch for in 2021.
I am humbled, honored, and excited at the opportunities and things happening to and around me. Not only am I creating my dreams, but I’m watching a few people I’m close to create theirs as well.
It’s exhilarating. I seriously feel an energetic tingle and pulse go through my body when we’re discussing all of these amazing things. If you’re not creating your dreams, I urge you to start. Pick one and start taking action to make it happen! Your future self will thank you.
There’s a full page in a magazine featuring my photos, a little bit about me, and a little bit about the Murder Mindset Series. I absolutely can’t wait to start hearing feedback on the first book, and to release the next one!
Let’s address the elephant in the room, though. NO, I did not buy a Harley. I don’t see that happening any time soon for several reasons. The main one being that I don’t currently desire to have a Harley.
I attended a sip and paint fundraiser last weekend at a local motorcycle dealership to raise funds for the International Female Ride Day in Nevada the first weekend in May. I thought that was a great opportunity to take the pictures of me holding the magazine and the book. It was a lot of things I love and enjoy all in one place. (Not to mention great company.)
I’ve used my experiences as an entrepreneur to shape some of the characters and situations in my books. For example, I owned and operated a small trucking company with my ex for twelve years. One of the books features a truck driver, where I got to pull from that experience.
I have been a rideshare driver since 2016, which came in handy for The Rideshare Chronicles volumes I, II, and III. That experience has given me countless stories and inspiration for more stories, as well as meeting people who all have their own stories. My brain runs wild with a little story, turning it into something bigger or figuring out how to weave it into a web of other stories and connect them all.
In addition, I have been a travel agent. That knowledge is helpful to aid in research for the storylines that take me to places I haven’t physically been able to experience – yet. I’m not sure where else that experience might pop up.
I’ve also added in some of my hobbies, such as riding. One of the books will feature some motorcycle riders and information. They say write what you know, so we’ll see how it works. On the flip side, murder is a part of the series, though I can’t say that I have experienced that. (I mean, I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.)
Either way, being featured in this magazine just made something more real that was already becoming real in a tangible way. I can hold, smell, see, read, and feel MY book! Then, I got to see my face and my books in a magazine. This is exciting beyond measure for me.
At the same time, it’s also uncomfortable. It’s a lot of attention and self-promotion, which makes me extremely uncomfortable. I’m openly sharing details of my life, my struggles, my feelings, and random things that I have no idea if you even care! But, I’m also incredibly proud of myself for accomplishing these things. It’s a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.
Please share something with me that you’re proud of!!!
